Another Windy Day After Gusts Caused Power Outages

Gusty winds continue to sweep through northern New England as utility crews, particularly in Maine, work to restore power after outages overnight.

Wind speeds exceeding 40 mph hit northern Maine on Saturday night and Sunday morning. At the peak of the problems, Emera Maine reported 3,000 homes and businesses without power, but that number was down to under 50 by mid-afternoon Sunday. Similarly, Central Maine Power was working to restore electricity to about 600 customers Sunday afternoon, down from about 5,000 earlier.

Eversource New Hampshire had about 130 customers without power Sunday morning, and all but a handful had their lights back on later in the day. Green Mountain Power in Vermont started the day with a few dozen affected customers, but that number increased to about 200 later.
