Maine Public is the media sponsor of the Bangor Symphony Orchestra's Masterworks Season, including Schumann & Shostakovich, the next concert in their 123rd season, on Sunday afternoon, February 24, at the Collins Center for the Arts in Orono.

A pair of Russian gems and a favorite from Schumann performed by "a superb young soloist" (The New Yorker) are featured in February. Glinka’s sparkling Ruslan and Lyudmila Overture kicks things off before cellist Nicholas Canellakis takes the stage for Schumann’s beloved Cello Concerto in A minor. Shostakovich's spirited Symphony No. 9 concludes the program with a burst of brightness.
