Bates recently hosted a talk by Douglas Vakoch, the director of interstellar message composition at the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute.
Douglas Vakoch is Interstellar Message Group Leader and the only social scientist employed by the SETI Institute. He conducts and promotes research on the cultural aspects of SETI and is particularly interested in how we might compose reply messages that would begin to express what it's like to be human.
This talk was recorded November 3, 2012 at Bates College in Lewiston.
