New wireless broadband networks are coming to 26 rural communities in Maine. Redzone Wireless announced Thursday that it will expand its services to 50,000 households this year.
Vice President Michael Forcillo says the expansion will address pervasive connectivity issues in the state.
"Maine is one of lowest ranked states for broadband connectivity in the country, and it's also the most rural state in America, so the problem here is very significant," Forcillo says.
In a press release, Governor Janet Mills applauded the expansion as a welcome step toward improving broadband infrastructure and improving Maine's economy.
