LePage Embarking on Trade Mission to Iceland

Governor LePage is joining members of Maine's seafood and paper industries on a three-day trade mission to Iceland.

The Republican governor departs for Reykjavik today.

Tomorrow, LePage will meet with President Olafur Ragnar Grimsson. He's also expected to visit a food and beverage distributor and tour a collection of companies that strive for the 100 percent utilization of seafood product.

Maine's International Trade Center says the economic relationship with the island country was bolstered by Icelandic shipping company Eimskip's decision to make Portland its East Coast port of call last year.

LePage will return to Maine on Wednesday. Some members of the delegation are also traveling to London for several more business-matchmaking activities and events to showcase Maine products.
