USM's Muskie School and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is hosting a fall lecture series entitled: Politics Then and Now, in Maine and the Nation. The speaker is Former Maine Representative Peter Mills.

Peter Mills, Republican, served in the Maine Legislature from 1994 to 2010, acting as the Republican leader on the Tax, Labor, Judiciary, and Appropriations, Education, and Health & Human Services Committees. He has been outspoken advocate for change in our tax and school funding systems, and has worked across the aisle to pass bipartisan reforms in health care and education. Since 2011, Mills has served as the Executive Director of the Maine Turnpike Authority, having been nominated to the post by Governor Paul LePage.
