PORTLAND, Maine — Former Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine has made it her mission since leaving office to try to find ways to end the corrosive partisanship that has caused gridlock in Washington.
On Tuesday, she'll join two former Senate majority leaders — Democrat Tom Daschle and Republican Trent Lott — as the Bipartisan Policy Center's Commission on Political Reform releases its recommendations.
The report, to be released at the Newseum in Washington, is titled, "Governing in a Polarized America: A Bipartisan Blueprint to Strengthen our Democracy."" It's expected to include proposals on redistricting and primaries, filibuster reform and campaign finance, among others.
