The first winter storm to coat the entire state of Maine with snow has left behind about a half-foot of the white stuff.
Many schools closed Friday because of the storm that arrived overnight. Police reported numerous fender benders.
William Watson from the National Weather Service said snow tallies included 7 inches in Fryeburg, 6 inches in Portland, and 5.5 inches in Lewiston.
Several parts of Maine already have been clobbered a few times. But this was the first storm to coat the entire state with snow.
Falmouth resident Angela Ostlund said the roads were rough Friday even though Maine didn't get "too much snow." The 49-year-old was shoveling out a Portland apartment she owned.
Portland Uber drive Tim Miller said the wet, heavy snow made it tough to drive.
