Twelve civilian workers who provide safety services at Pease Air National Guard Base in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, have formed a union that will be part of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Astrophysicist From Maine Explains Why 'Epic Image' Of Black Hole Created Such A Stir
Dr. Grant Tremblay is an astrophysicist who studies black holes. He's also a native Mainer who was back in the state last week to speak at the University of Maine in Orono about the phenomena. Maine Public Radio’s Morning Edition host Irwin Gratz had a chance to speak with him while he was there soon after NASA released the first ground-breaking image of a black hole. Gratz asked Tremblay what an image like that can teach an expert like him.
This could be a big week for the endangered North Atlantic right whale, and for Maine's lobster fishery as well. A meeting in Providence will consider new regulations on lobster and other fishermen to protect the roughly 400 remaining whales from becoming entangled in fishing gear.
Police and school officials in Maine say student medications were stolen from a Rockland elementary school during a break-in.
