The owner of a rehabilitation center in Bar Harbor, Maine, says the facility will close this spring.
North Country Associates said it has sold the Sonogee Rehabilitation and Living Center, which overlooks Frenchman Bay. About 50 residents have been told they have a month to relocate. There's a similar number of workers.
Angie Slinker, whose mother resides at the facility, told WABI-TV she was "completely floored" by the announcement.
The nursing home is located on prime real estate overlooking the water next to the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort.
The shuttering of the facility, expected by April 26, follows a trend of nursing home closings. A half-dozen nursing homes shut down last year in Maine.
