A hospital administrator from Maine is stepping down to become chief operating officer of the American Hospital Association.

Michelle Hood has served as CEO of Northern Light Health for 14 years, and oversaw the addition of two member-hospitals to the organization from Ellsworth and Portland, as well as a name change from Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems.

Her official departure date has not been set, but according to a press release, Hood is expected to begin her new position at the American Hospital Association next year.
