Event Description

After a delay in opening because of necessary restrictions due to the COVID-19 virus, we are excited to welcome everyone to come and view our Maine Bicentennial Exhibition: "Mapping Maine: The Land and Its Peoples, 1677-1842."

The exhibit will be on display from Thursday, September 10, 2020 through Saturday, March 20, 2021.

We will be open to the general public by appointment only this fall on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Gallery visit appointments can be made via our new easy to use online reservation system by visiting oshermaps.org/schedulevisit.

Public OML Hours:
Thursdays and Fridays:
Gallery Visits (maximum 4 visitors per one-hour timeslot): 10:30am, 12pm, 1:30pm, 3pm

Saturdays: Gallery Visits (maximum 4 visitors per one-hour timeslot): 10:15am, 11:30am, 12:45pm, 2pm

To help reduce the spread of COVID-19 we have implemented the following: As ever, there is no charge for research and gallery visits, but all public patrons will need to make a timed appointment before coming into the map library. There will be no drop in visits permitted between September and December; we will reassess for the spring semester in line with university guidelines. Please note that all visitors must practice social distancing and wear a face covering when on University property at all times. Face coverings are to be the type commonly recommended by public health officials. These are generally made of multiple layers of cloth, which cover the nose, mouth and chin and are secured either with ear loops or with ties behind the head. We will have disposable face coverings on hand should any visitors forget theirs.

Please direct any questions about visits to (207) 780-4850 or oml-usm@maine.edu. We are not conducting group tours during the fall semester.
