Mapping Portland in the 1830s

Mapping Portland in the 1830s

Join Greater Portland Landmarks for an illuminating evening exploring Portland's historic past through cartography. Featuring Dr. Libby Bischof, Executive Director and Public Historian and Louis Miller, Assistant Director for Research and Fellowships of the Osher Map Library and Smith Center for Cartographic Education, this free presentation will use John Cullum's rare 1836 "Map of the City of Portland with Latest Improvements", to reveal the community centers and development patterns of Portland before the railway era transformed the city forever.

Registration is required for this free event. Donations are greatly appreciated and help Greater Portland Landmarks offer more accessible programming to the community.
