"SETTING SAIL" - - - Community Chantey Sing
The Pembroke Library’s monthly “Chantey Sing,” which got underway fourteen years ago, is “Setting Sail” for another year of songs of the sea on Wednesday, January 25th, starting at 6:00 PM. Led by Pembroke’s own Stephen Sanfilippo, “America’s Easternmost Chanteyman,” the evening will feature chanteys for raising sail and ballads of ships heading out to sea for long voyages. Performing with concertina, banjo and guitar, and leading the call-and-response chanteys of the “Age of Sail,” Stephen will take the audience on a musical sea adventure into the past. The event is family friendly, children are welcome, and all are invited to sing along and enjoy free refreshments afterwards. The fully handicap accessible Pembroke Library is located at 221 Old County Road, opposite the horse track and fair grounds. Admission by donations to the Pembroke Library.
