Police: 19-Year-Old Killed in Portland Shooting Not a Target

PORTLAND, Maine - The parents of the 19-year-old man killed in a flurry of gunfire in Portland's Old Port district say their son was a bystander in a confrontation that didn't involve him.

The Portland Press Herald reports that Nancy and Don Laxon, parents of Trey Arsenault, say police told them their son was not a target when shots were fired inside DA Block Studios Inc., an independent recording studio on Market Street.

Police said Arsenault and a 20-year-old Portland man were shot around midnight Monday. Arsenault was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The other man, not identified by police, is expected to recover.

Police say they are seeking "at least two'' shooters, who are still at large. Police have not identified a motive for the shooting.
