Number of Meth Lab Busts in Maine Hits 45
WELLS, Maine — The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has made its 45th meth lab bust, an all-time record for the year.
Officials say agents searched a site in Wells on Tuesday. A meth lab response team processed the ranch-style home and a camper that was in the driveway.
Assisting at the scene were the Wells police and fire departments, state chemists and the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. No one was arrested.
Methamphetamine production continues to be a vexing problem for law enforcement officials. Production labs are dangerous because of the explosive potential of toxic chemicals.
