Buxton Couple Charged in York County Burglary Spree

PORTLAND, Maine - A Buxton couple has been charged in connection with a string of home burglaries, mostly in York County.

State Police spokesman Steve McCausland says that 28-year-old Shawn Swenson was charged with 17 burglaries and his 25-year-old girlfriend, Abigail Hall, received summonses on four.

McCausland says Swenson admitted to his involvement in at least seventeen burglaries in Hollis, Dayton, Buxton, Scarborough and Saco. "A troubling aspect was homeowners this week encountered at least the man," McCausland says.

As a result of the sightings, McCausland says, troopers were able to track down the couple and charge them. He says  when authorities stopped their vehicle, the couple's one year old baby was in the car. Troopers searched the vehicle and located jewelry stolen earlier in the day in Buxton.

McCausland says Hall was the driver for several of the alleged heists and that the items stolen were being pawned to satisfy Swenson's drug habit.
