Man's Citizenship Revoked For Impersonating A Somali Man

PORTLAND, Maine - A Vermont man convicted of impersonating a Somali man has been sentenced to two months in prison.Authorities say 56-year-old Hussien Noor Hussien was sentenced Wednesday in Portland, Maine. The judge also revoked Hussien's citizenship.

Prosecutors say Hussien, of Burlington, Vermont, entered the U.S. as a refugee in 2004 under the name Abukar Hassan Abdule, along with the real Abdule's wife and children.

Hussien was eventually naturalized under that name. He later filed to legally change his name back to Hussien Noor Hussien.

The Sun Journal reports a fraud investigation revealed that Abdule's wife married the real Abdule in a Kenyan refugee camp, but divorced him around 1997. She married Hussien three years later.

Hussien's lawyers didn't return a call seeking comment on Friday.
