Maine Town to Discuss Wind Energy Project

FRANKFORT, Maine - Residents of a Maine town are set to discuss a proposal for a six-turbine wind energy project.

New Hampshire-based Eolian Renewable Energy is hosting the event on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. in Frankfort. The firm says the project would generate enough electricity for 6,500 homes and would be built with private money on private land. It would make an Eolian subsidiary the town's largest taxpayer.

Residents of the town last week asked Frankfort's selectmen for a November ballot question to repeal the town's wind energy ordinance and replace it with a new set of rules. The town enacted the Frankfort Wind Energy Facility Ordinance in December 2011.
