Spring Snow Storm Knocks Out Power To Thousands In Southern Maine
A spring snow storm that hit Maine overnight has knocked out power to thousands, mostly in southern Maine.The storm hit overnight, blanketing the area with up to 10 inches of wet, heavy snow, knocking trees and limbs onto powerlines.
Central Maine Power reports that as of about 8:00 a.m., nearly 19,000 customers were without power, down from a high of 28,000 earlier.
Farther north in Emera Maine's territory, fewer than 170 customers had no power. The storm moved across the area quickly, and temperatures Tuesday are expected to climb into the 50s.
