Drought recedes in sections of Maine, but not in parched coastal areas

Federal officials say drought conditions did recede a bit in Maine this week, but not in the most severely affected area.

The latest maps, released today, show some worsening of drought conditions in north-central Maine, and some improvement across south-central parts of the state.

But, despite Monday's rain, southern York county and the coast to Penobscot Bay remain in a "severe drought" condition.
