Maine's COVID-19 Case Tally Rises By 17; No New Deaths

Maine has logged another 17 cases of COVID-19 overnight, bringing the total since the pandemic's onset to 4,014.  The death toll remained at 124 for the third straight day.That's according to new figures the Maine Center for Disease Control posted Friday. They indicate that a total of 3,479 Mainers have recovered from the virus. That leaves 411 active cases that the state is currently tracking, 13 more than Thursday.

At some point during their illness, 393 people have had to be hospitalized. As of Thursday, 11 people were hospitalized, three of them in intensive care. One person was on a ventilator.

The Maine CDC's next briefing on the coronavirus is scheduled for 2 p.m. next Tuesday, Aug. 11.
