A case of acute hepatitis A has been identified in a worker at Saco House of Pizza.
The Maine Center for Disease Control says the worker did not prepare food, but had access to the kitchen and staff and patrons may have been exposed.
The worker was infectious starting Aug. 5, but there’s only a 14-day window when the hepatitis A vaccine effectively protects against exposure. The CDC is urging anyone who ate or worked at the restaurant Aug. 18-21 to promptly get the vaccine.
The agency advises anyone who visited the Saco House of Pizza outside of that time frame to seek medical help if they experience symptoms such as fatigue, low appetite, stomach pain and jaundice.
