BANGOR, Maine — A federal judge has heard arguments from defendants in a lawsuit brought by the father of a man who died days after Bangor police used a stun gun on him.
Lawyers for Bangor police and six officers asked the judge in U.S. District Court in Bangor on Tuesday to dismiss some portions of the complaint.
A lawyer for the gun's manufacturer, Taser, also asked to be dismissed from the suit.
WABI-TV reports that the judge did not immediately rule.
Police used a Taser on 28-year-old Philip McCue in September 2012 while he was high on the drug bath salts. He died at a hospital days later.
The wrongful death suit claims authorities used excessive force.
The state attorney general has determined that use of the Taser was justified.
