Officials: 2 Injured in Ogunquit Explosion Trying to Light Gas Stove

OGUNQUIT, Maine — Officials say an explosion at a restaurant in Ogunquit blew out some windows and sent two workers to the hospital.

Fire Chief Mark O'Brien says two workers suffered burns late Tuesday morning at the Captain's Catch on Main Street. He says there were no patrons because the blast happened before the restaurant opened for lunch.

Maine State Police say 44-year-old Allison Soucier of Wells suffered burns to her legs and 50-year-old Christopher Graham suffered burns to his legs and some respiratory issues. Both were being treated at hospitals.

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland says fire marshals say there was a buildup of gas from the stove the two were trying to light.
