BANGOR, Maine (AP) _ A former Maine court employee has been convicted of theft and tampering with public records.
A judge found 48-eight-year-old Danielle Beckwith guilty on Monday. She worked as a supervisor at a transcript production office at Penobscot Judicial Center in Bangor when she was accused of attempted theft by deception. Prosecutors accused her of issuing a refund of almost $3,000 in the name of her daughter.
WABI-TV reports Beckwith tried to create a paper trial supporting the transaction. A retired judge handled the case in Newport District Court.
