State police spokesman Steve McCausland says the state Fire Marshal's Office is still trying to pinpoint the cause of a fire in Prentiss on Saturday night that sent eight firefighters and a trooper to a hospital.
"And the circumstances under which the firefighters and the trooper had throat irritation as a result of, obviously, getting a whiff of whatever was burning inside," McCausland says.
McCausland says responders initially thought the fire was from a meth lab, because people in the home immediately scattered when the fire broke out. But he says that cause has been ruled out.
