LePage Highlights Charity Basketball Tournament

AUGUSTA, Maine - Gov. Paul LePage is urging Mainers to get involved in an upcoming basketball tournament that supports children who have been impacted by domestic violence.

The Republican governor highlighted the Taylor Tip-Off Tournament alongside the Maine Athletic Club and members of the Maine Swish basketball team at the Augusta YMCA on Tuesday.

The 6th annual tournament, which begins on Nov. 2, has raised more than $60,000 for children whose parents have been killed by domestic violence.

Games are being held at XL Sports World in Saco, Falmouth high and middle schools, Gray-New Gloucester Middle School, Pineland Farms YMCA and Waterville's Thomas College.

LePage says that Mainers cannot let "these tragedies ruin innocent lives that have been caught in the middle of a family's worst nightmare.''
