PARIS, Maine - Paris Police Chief Michael Madden has apologized to the town's Board of Selectmen for his drunken driving arrest.
TheSun Journalreports that Madden teared up Monday night when discussing his "unprofessional behavior,'' specifically when he saw that every full-time employee in the department showed up to give him support.
Madden says he's a police officer, but he's a human who made a human mistake.
A Cumberland County Sheriff's sergeant pulled over Madden just after midnight on Nov. 21 in his personal vehicle after he was observed swerving over the centerline several times and left his turn signal on for miles.
The town suspended Madden without pay for 30 nonconsecutive days. Madden says he already paid his $500 fine and completed the required alcohol education course.
