AUGUSTA, Maine - A Democratic representative from Sanford who was serving his second term in the Maine House has died after a battle with cancer.

Jean Noon said her husband, Bill Noon, died Wednesday morning at home. He was 66 years old.

She said Noon had been diagnosed with a rare type of t-cell lymphoma in January 2014. Noon is also survived by two children and three grandchildren.

He was a member of the Legislature's Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee. He also served on the Sanford Planning Board for more than 20 years.

Democratic House Speaker Mark Eves said lawmakers are deeply saddened by Noon's passing. He said Noon will be remembered for his advocacy for the environment and Maine farms, love of his family and work and sense of humor.
