AUGUSTA, Maine — The University of Maine in Augusta is considering three candidates to serve as the school's next president.
The Kennebec Journal reports the field has been narrowed down to James Conneely, Guiyou Huang and Lawrence Gould, none of whom work at the university or live in Maine.
UMA spokesman Dan Demeritt says the interim president, Rebecca Wyke, will return to her role as vice chancellor once the new president is selected. It's not clear if she was an applicant.
Demeritt says the search committee interviewed nine candidates before choosing three finalists.
He says the candidates plan to visit the Augusta and Bangor campuses later this fall. The board of trustees will consider the Maine System Chancellor's final recommendation at a November meeting.
The new president is expected on campus early next year.
