Collins Among Senators Pushing for Land and Water Conservation Fund

WASHINGTON, DC _ Republican Senator Susan Collins is among a handful of senators, mostly from New England,  seeking to create more recreational and outdoor opportunities through a permanent allocation of funds for the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.
The fund  supports a variety of federal lands, from battlefields and monument areas to national forests,  conservation land, ranches, and wildlife refuges.

Current funding for the land program is set to expire at the end of the month; Collins wants the funding authorization to become permanent.

Collins is joined in the push by New Hampshire Democrat Senator Jeanne Shaheen, Vermont Democrat Patrick Leahy, and Republican Richard Burr of North Carolina.
