PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — University of Maine System trustees who're looking to consolidate the seven campuses are discussing an effort to coordinate academic programs.
Monday's session is a continuation of efforts to consolidate functions to save money. Chancellor James Page is seeking a single accreditation of the entire campus system, and wants to combine resources and make it easier to transfer credits among the colleges.
Already, the system has combined purchasing, IT, human relations and budgeting functions.
Also Monday, Ryan Low, chief financial officer, will be briefing trustees on the budget. A spokesman says he's expected to report that the system is making progress in lowering an anticipated budget cap of $90 million by 2020.
