AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ Maine's hunters who target bobcats, foxes and a handful of other species are heading into the final weeks of the annual winter hunt.
The season for bobcats ends on Feb. 14 and the fox hunt ends on Feb. 28.
The snowshoe hare season on Vinalhaven Island and the falconry season for gray squirrels end on Feb. 28. Both of those seasons have a daily bag limit of four.
New Hampshire regulators are proposing to reinstate bobcat hunting for the first time in more than two decades. The state banned bobcat hunting when the population dipped in the late 1980s. Opponents want the ban to remain.
