LePage Joins RGA in Calling for Deficit Discussion

WASHINGTON, D.C._ Maine Governor Paul LePage is attending the winter meeting of the Republican Governors' Association in Washington D.C.. Among the topics is the battle to win the GOP nomination for President. But LePage says he needs to hear how the candidates will solve one big issue:"The biggest thing in the RGA right now is the federal debt." says LePage. "It's the thing I hear about the most. Federal debt is a big issue and we are all concerned none of the candidates for President are talking about it."
LePage says he and several of the governors are sending a letter to the candidates seeking their views on reducing the federal budget deficit, which he says has grown to a size that won't easily be paid off. "We're only about three trillion or four trillion dollars at most from being underwater, meaning we can't pay our debt. And nobody seems to be talking about it."

The RGA meetings will also focus on issues centered around the states' relationships with the federal government.

Since New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie suspended his campaign, LePage says he's received several calls from some of the remaining candidates seeking his endorsement, but he says he has not decided who, when, or if he will endorse.

The RGA meeting continues through Monday.
