BAR HARBOR, Maine- Authorities are working to positively identify human remains located Saturday in Acadia National Park. Maine Search and Rescue dogs and members of MDI Search and Rescue located the remains near Parkman Mountain.
A backpack was also located about 170 feet from the remains.
Authorities will not speculate on the identity of the deceased, but searchers have been looking for 50 year old Timothy Philpott of Ellsworth, whose car was located on January 13th at the parking area to Parkman Mountain, near Northeast Harbor.
The remains have been transported to the Maine State Medical Examiner's office for identification and ruling on cause of death.
