Brunswick Officer Under Investigation Resigns

BRUNSWICK, Maine _ The Brunswick police officer arrested last week and charged,  after allegedly sending sexually explicit photos of himself to a 13 year old girl online, has resigned from the department.
25 year old Garrett Brosnan of Bath is currently in the custody of his parents following an initial court appearance last week. He stands accused of sending explicit pictures of his genitalia to a 13 year old Arizona girl with whom he had allegedly been communicating.

A federal undercover officer allegedly intercepted the photos, by posing as the girl, after the parents reported that their daughter had been receiving sexual conversations from someone over the internet.

Brosnan had previously been placed on paid administrative leave while the department carried out its own inquiry. According to Brunswick Police Chief Richard Rizzo, Brosnan had passed a background check prior to hire.

Saturday, Rizzo announced that Brosnan would be leaving the department.
