State Police Join Search For Franklin Man Missing Since February in Eastern Maine

Maine State Police have joined joined the investigation into the disappearance of a 48-year-old man from the Hancock County town of Franklin.

Spokesman Steve McCausland says Russell Burnett was last seen in February walking about a half mile from his home on Eastbrook Road. He says both the Hancock County Sheriff's Office and the Maine Warden Service have been looking for Burnett since a relative reported him missing.

"Because of the length of time that went by, the decision was made that State Police might be able to add resources to the case that were not there previously," McCausland says.

Members of the Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit and the Evidence Response Team were at Burnett's home on Monday looking for evidence.

Police ask that anyone who has seen Burnett or may have information about his whereabouts to call the Maine State Police.

Ed is a Maine native who spent his early childhood in Livermore Falls before moving to Farmington. He graduated from Mount Blue High School in 1970 before going to the University of Maine at Orono where he received his BA in speech in 1974 with a broadcast concentration. It was during that time that he first became involved with public broadcasting. He served as an intern for what was then called MPBN TV and also did volunteer work for MPBN Radio.
