Toddler Hit, Killed By Car Driven By Mom In Parking Lot

LEWISTON, Maine - Police in Lewiston say a one-and-a-half-year-old girl died after being struck by a car driven by her mother.

Police say the crash took place in an apartment complex parking lot in Lewiston just before 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Sun Journal reports that the child was rushed to a hospital, but life-saving efforts were not successful.

Police say the car that struck 17-month-old Tiannah Sevey was driven by 27-year-old Taneisha Thomas of Lewiston. They say she was backing out of a space at the time. No charges have been filed.

They say the accident is being reconstructed and the attorney general's office has been notified. They say there was no indication that the driver was intoxicated when the crash occurred.
