Country Star Meets With Lewiston Fan Who Says His Song Saved Him

LEWISTON, Maine - Country music singer Tony Jackson has met with a 74-year-old Lewiston fan who credits his song "The Grand Tour'' with keeping him alive during his recovery from heart surgery.

Terry Farrington, daughter of Leon Farrington, sent a message to Jackson on Nov. 27 to say thank you, and wasn't expecting the response she got from the singer. The Sun Journal reports Jackson drove 10 hours to meet them Nov. 30 after receiving the message.

Last November, Leon underwent three surgeries in 24 hours to deal with many medical emergencies. Terry played her father's favorite country music by her father's bedside, every day - including Jackson's "The Grand Tour.''

Jackson says he happened to be free, and jumped in the car to drive to Maine from Virginia. He says the family's story "hit home.''
