Food Festival Canceled In Wake Of Sexual Harrassment Claims

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine - A Maine food festival run by a magazine is being canceled this year in the wake of 8-year-old allegations of sexual harassment against the publication's owner.

The Portland Press Herald reports Maine Magazine is canceling this year's Kennebunkport Festival. The festival ordinarily takes place in June.

A former designer for Maine Media Collective, parent of Maine Magazine, says magazine owner Kevin Thomas kissed her without permission in 2010, then bullied her for months.

Thomas acknowledged the kissing in a statement last week, and said it was wrong, but he disputed the designer's account. He hasn't been charged with a crime.

A statement on the festival's website states that the festival doesn't "want recent news about Maine Media Collective to cast a shadow over the festival.''
