FRYEBURG, Maine - An airport in rural western Maine will receive more than $500,000 from the federal government to construct a new hangar. The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Rural Housing Service Administrator Bruce Lammers says the money will go to Eastern Slope Airport Authority in the form of a direct loan and a grant.
The USDA says the construction of the hangar will "facilitate higher utilization of the airport during winter months to improve access to Eastern Slope Airport'' which is in Fryeburg.
The USDA says the money is part of an investment of nearly $12 million in more than 40 community facilities projects in 17 states.
