NORWAY, Maine - State police in Maine say the remains of a person found buried in a backyard in September have been identified as an 82-year-old woman. Police say they and the Medical Examiner's Office have identified the woman as Mae Shelton, of Otisfield. Her remains were recovered from a property in the town of Norway on Sept. 17. Vernelle Jackson said in September that she buried Shelton in the backyard to fulfill Shelton's dying wish. Jackson said Shelton was a friend who moved in with her when she became sick.
