The Maine Department of Corrections (DOC) announced Thursday that results of COVID-19 testing for staff and residents of the Long Creek Youth Development Center in South Portland are negative so far.
The results include all 35 youth who are being held at the facility along with 146 staff. Results for six staff are pending.
The testing was undertaken June 27 after a youth who was in the process of being released tested positive for COVID-19. Since then, the DOC says Long Creek has increased the use of personal protective equipment and medical monitoring and limited movement between five units on the campus which each hold between four and 13 residents.
