The Bowdoin College Board of Trustees announced Thursday that it has chosen the school's first female president.
The unanimous vote in support of Safa Zaki will make her the 16th president of Bowdoin since its founding in 1794.
Zaki is currently dean of faculty and a psychology professor at Williams College in Massachusetts. She will succeed Clayton Rose, who was Bowdoin's president for eight years, on July 1.
