Emily Cain has won the Democratic nomination in Maine's 2nd District Congressional race. The Associated Press has declared Cain the winner of the contest against Allagash logger and state lawmaker Troy Jackson. At this hour, Cain is beating Jackson by more than 2 to 1.
Cain is a state lawmaker who was first elected to the Maine House in 2004. After serving eight years in the House, she was elected to the Senate in 2012.
Cain cast herself as a dealmaker able to work across the aisle, while Jackson's campaign focused on working-class Mainers.
Cain will face off with the winner of the district's Republican contest. At this hour, there's no clear winner in that race.
