AUGUSTA, Maine - The Assistant Republican Leader for the Maine House of Representatives has resigned his seat.
In a letter to Democratic House Speaker Mark Eves on Thursday, Alex Willette said he won't have the time to properly serve his district as he turns his focus to his career.
A recent graduate of the University of Maine's law school, Willette works as a spokesman for Republican Gov. Paul LePage's re-election campaign.
The Mapleton resident represented District 7, which includes Castle Hill, Chapman, Monticello and other towns in Aroostook County.
Willette announced in May that he wasn't going to seek re-election for his House seat.
