3 Gubernatorial Candidates Gather for 1st Time

PORTLAND, Maine — The three candidates for governor in Maine are speaking publicly at the same event for the first time.

Republican Gov. Paul LePage and his challengers, Democratic Rep. Mike Michaud and independent Eliot Cutler, are confirmed to appear at the event Friday at the University of Southern Maine.

All three are due to speak but won't take the stage at the same time in Portland at the event sponsored by the Environmental & Energy Technology Council of Maine.

The event focuses on energy. The candidates are expected to lay out their vision for the state's energy future. Others speakers include the governor's energy chief, Patrick Woodcock.
