Poliquin Expresses Concerns About Terrorism Financing

WASHINGTON - Maine U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin says he's troubled by the apparent cooperation between  terrorist groups and organized crime.

The 2nd District Republican made the remarks at a hearing of the Task Force to Investigate Terrorism Financing on how various terrorist groups are financing their efforts.

"I am a little bit concerned today as we go down this path and now all of a sudden we see a marriage between organized crime and terrorism," Poliquin said. "And so it's an additional source of funding to terrorism."

Poliquin questioned experts testifying before the task force about the Obama administration's negotiations with Iran, and the potential effect lifting financial sanctions on Iran might have on terrorism financing.
