Poliquin: Terror Groups Helping Fuel Maine's Drug Crisis

AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine U.S. House Rep. Bruce Poliquin says terror groups like Hezbollah are participating in the criminal drug trafficking rings that are fueling the state's drug crisis. He learned about the activity from a panel testifying before the House Task Force on Terrorism Financing.

"Now we learn from you folks and others that their tentacles now are reaching into our hemisphere and operating now in South America in the drug trafficking trade," the 2nd District Republican said.

Poliquin asked if the pressure to close the southern border to drug traffickers will lead to them. The experts say they don't know for sure, but it has happened in other areas of the world in response to increased efforts to crack down on the drug trade.

Correction: Bruce Poliquin represents Maine's 2nd District, not 1st.
